Tegu makes cool wood blocks for kids that have a little twist (hidden magnets that make them stick together). They aren't cheap, but they seem like a classic toy that a child would use forever and then pass down to a sibling or another generation. I give this gift a big Friday stamp of approval.
It's still unclear if this toy that Gizmodo wrote about is real, but if it is, I implore parents not to buy their daughters the Pole Dancer Doll unless you want them to change their name to Candy someday.
